Jeff Steinhauser, Republican Candidate for 155th District Court Judge

Born on September 5, 1964, Jeff R. Steinhauser is a Fayette County native who graduated from Flatonia High School in 1983. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and minoring in English. From there, Jeff moved to Houston and enrolled at The University of Houston Law Center.

During Law School, he clerked for the Law Firm of Stanley J. Krist, earning his way through school. Upon graduating from Law School in 1990, Jeff stayed on with Krist Law Firm. The firm focused primarily on oil and gas law, including litigation. This enabled Jeff to become very familiar with the courtroom early on in his career. Jeff later moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi, to work on litigation for his firm. While in Mississippi he met and married Stephanie, then moved from Pascagoula to Flatonia in 1993. They have four daughters: Megan (16), Katie (14), Rachel (11) and Lillie Anne (10). Megan and Katie attend public school. Rachel and Lillie were being home schooled by Stephanie, but they have now enrolled in public school also.

Jeff has nearly 20 years of experience in law, including civil law, criminal law, real estate, probate, wills, banking law, family law, and guardianship. Jeff has served as city attorney to Moulton and Waelder and is also a certified Attorney Ad Litem. His law practice in Flatonia has involved in variety of legal areas, as most small town practices do. These areas include general civil litigation, family law, real estate, estates, criminal law, banking law, wills and guardianships. At different times. he served as the City Attorney for Moulton, Texas and Waelder, Texas. He is currently certified by the State Bar at Texas to be appointed as an Attorney Ad Litem.

Community involvement includes participation in the Fayette County Republican Party, Lions Club Past President and Member, Flatonia Rotary Club, Flatonia Little League Softball Coach, Twin Cities All Star Softball Coach, Host Family For Flatonia Baptist Church Disciple Now Programs, Host Family For Rotary Group Study Exchange Program for group from Japan, Flatonia Chamber of Commerce Member, Flatonia Athletic Booster Club, and the Flatonia Band Booster Club.

Member of the Flatonia Baptist Church. He has served or is serving as a Trustee, Usher, Youth and Children's Committee member, New Building Committee member, Teller and Sunday School Teacher for a 4th - 6th class.

 

Member of the Fayette County Texas Exes and life member of the University of Texas Ex-Students' Association since 1993. He has served as the scholarship chairperson of the Fayette County Chapter since 1995. Jeff was a recipient of one of these scholarships in 1983, 1984, and 1985, so he is "repaying" the award to the local chapter. He also served as President and a board member of the Fayette County Chapter.

Elected to the Flatonia School Board in 2000 and served as president for four years. On May 9, 2009, he began his fourth term, never having drawn an opponent in any election.

Served as a board member of the Colorado-Fayette Medical Center which oversees the Weimar Hospital, the Schulenburg Clinic, the Flatonia Clinic, and Park View Nursing Home in Weimar. He is a board member for the Oak Hill Cemetery Endowment Fund which oversees an investment fund in excess of one million dollars for perpetual care of the cemetery in Flatonia.

Since 1991, Jeff's siblings, their spouses, and their children, and Jeff's mother and father have picked up trash for the Adopt A Highway program. This stretch of highway is in front of the 0-4 Ranch, the Steinhauser family homestead, which on June 4, 2009, was added to the rolls of the Family Land Heritage Program for property continuously held in agricultural production by a single family for over 100 years.
